LATERALITY EFFECTS OF MATCHING CHINESE WORDS AND EVENT-RELATED POTENTIALS
Zhang Wu-tian,Zhang Jian-zhou,Zhao Jing Institute of Psychology, Academia Sinica Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine
    1988, 20 (04):  10-16.
    Abstract ( 554 )
The laterality of hemispheric function was tested by using Chinesecharacters which were two sets of word pairs that had same phoneme orlooked alike. The reaction time of the right field-left hemisphere wassuperior for the word pairs of the same phoneme but the left field-righthemisphere was superior for the looking alike. word pairs The ERPamplitude, especially P300, was significant smaller for left hemispherecomparring to right hemisphere under same phoneme condition. TheERP had no clear difference between left and right hemisphere for thewords pairs that looked alike. The latency of ERP also had no differen-ce between the left and right hemispheres under the two kinds of materialconditions. The results indicate that the left hemisphere relates to phone-mic coding of Chinese words and ERP (P300) seems to be its effectiveindex.

THE LIMITATION OF TOLERANT DELAY TIME FOR BINOCULAR DISPARITY FUSION
Jin Gui-chang,Zheng Zhu-ying,Zhou Gui-rong Institute of Biophysics, Academia Sinica
    1988, 20 (04):  25-29.
    Abstract ( 536 )
A dynamic random-dot stereogram (RDS) pair is produced by amicrocomputerized pseudo RDS generator and displayed on corres ponding left and right oscilloscopes, observed by two eyes respectively. The timeof display of the right RDS pattern delays that of the display of theleft one. 14 subjects with normal stereoscopic vision viewed bystereoscopy, and tolerant delay time in which binocular fusion canproduce clear perception of form in depth was determined. Three experiments were designed to determine the effect of changingspatial parameters of RDS patterns on the limitation of the delay time. The first was the change of size of RDS patterns the second was thechange of disparity type and disparity value and the third was the cha-nge of display position on the oscilloscope. The result indicates that binocular stereoscopic perception can tole-rate a delay of about 50 milliseconds. Changing spatial parameters ofRDS patterns affects tolerant delay time to a certain extent. It suggests that binocular stereoscopic information processing dependson transient visual information storage. In the process of stereopsis, bi-nocular visual information does not deal with short-term and long-termmemory.

APPLICATION OF THE FUZZY MATHEMATICAL M0DEL TO INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS RESEARCH IN SMALL GROUPS
    Liu Jing Beijing Normal University
    1988, 20 (04):  49-57.
    Abstract ( 584 )
The present paper puts forward the idea of exploring the structureof interpersonal relations in small groups through the fuzzy multifacto-rial evaluation and fuzzy clustering analysis with reference system ofsmall groups. This research is on the basis of analysing some limitationsof the classical sociometry. Three small groups for experimental researchwere selected, some clustering results on the basis of fuzzy multifactorialevaluation were obtained. We found that the classification of interpersonalrelations relates to Y which represents the dynamic characteristics ofinterpersonal relations in small groups. From this research, we considerit of practical significance to introduce the fuzzy mathematical modelinto studies on interpersonal relations in small groups.

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY 0N THE RELATI0NSHIP BETWEEN DEVEL0PMENT OF APPETITIVE DISCRIMINATION LEARNING OF Y MAZE AND BRAIN GROWTH AS WELL AS ROTATIONAL BEHAVI0R IN PREWEANING RATS
Li De-ming Institute of Psychology, Academia Sinica
    1988, 20 (04):  74-81.
    Abstract ( 525 )
The brain growth spurt was expressed as velocity curve of the incre-ase of brain weight in 0-20 day-old Wistar pups, the curve peak wasaround the 10 day-old stage. The experiment on development of appetitivediscrimination learning of Y maze in 12-20 day-old pups was carried outand a large enhancement of learning le level in the 16 day-old pups (afterdays of "brain growth spurt") was observed. The result indicates thatthe appetitive discrimination learning of Y maze is closely related tothe brain growth in preweanling rats. The experiment showed that the level of learning behavior of Ymaze for the pups of rotational type which could be induced by Amphe-tamine was better than that for the pups of non-rotational type whichcould not be induced by Amphetamine. Moreover, the best level of learningbehavior was for the pups of the right rotational type in keeping withthe direction of food reward (right arm) and the appearance was gettinggradually more obvious with the days. It suggests that the learning ofleft-right discrimination has close relation to the function asymmetryof the two hemispheres in preweanling rats.

PSYCHOLOGICAL STUDIES OF SELF—CONSCI0USNESS IN THE SOVIET UNION SINCE 1960s
Chen Hui-chang,Zhang Dong Institute of Educational Research of Shanxi Province, Taiyuan
    1988, 20 (04):  95-103.
    Abstract ( 892 )
The paper reviews the psychological research on self-consciousnessin the Soviet Union since the 1960s from four aspects: 1. The nature, role and developmental factors of self-consciousness; 2. The structure ofself-consciousness; 3. The genesis of self-consciousness; 4. The view of Sov-iet psychologists on Western research in self-consciousness. The authorsthink that there is a materialist tradition in the psychological researchon self-consciousness in the Soviet Union. From the 1970s onward reseachon this subject in the Soviet Union has reached a new level, but manyproblems remain unsolved. Recently, Soviet psychologists have begun topay great attention to the research on the subject in the West. However, the research of Soviet psychologists still falls behind thatof Western psychologists in scope, experimental technique and data ac-cum ulation.

THE LEARNING-DEPENDENT LONG-TERM POTENTIATION OF THE SYNAPTIC EFFICACY IN HIPPOCAMPAL DENTATE AREA
Xiao Peng,Ou Ying-qi,Xu Shi-tong Neurophysiol. Res. Lab., South China Normal University
    1988, 20 (04):  105-113.
    Abstract ( 538 )
This paper, by using the method of combining electrophysiology wi-th behavior, deals with the hippocampal synaptic efficacy to the acquisit-ion, consolidation and extinction of conditioned responses and its relati-on with the signals of different types of senses as conditioned stimulus(CS). The long-term potentiation (LTP) of the synaptic efficacy in hippo-campal dentate area was not only significantly obvious in the acquisitionor conditioned discrimination response, but persisted because of the consoli-dated training after the acquisition of the conditioned response. Further-more, the duration of persistence was directly proportional to the trialsin the consolidated training. After this learning-dependent LTP disappea-red, the conditioned response disappeared as well. But in the conditionedgustatory detestation there was no LTP phenomenon. Therefore, these results, at the level of synaptic efficacy, further substantiate the viewpointof our research laboratory that hippocampus plays a different role in the-memory of conditioned responses with the signals of different typesof senses as CS, and that hippocampus participates not only in learning, but also in the retention of memory. These results suggest that this ?are-ning-dependent LTP is closely related to learning and memory.
