CHINA-WECHSLER YOUNGER CHILDREN SCALE OF INTELLIGENCE (C-WYCSI)

Abstract: The Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI)was revised according to the cultural background of Chinese children.This new version is called the China-Wechsler Younger Children Scale ofIntelligence (C-WYCSI). Three subtests and the two-thirds items ofWPPSI were replaced. C-WYCSI consists of two sets of norms, one is madeup of urban children (N=2200) and another is made up of rural children(N=1120). The following psychometrical characteristics of the scale are considered: most floors of the subtests of this new scale were improvedbut some of the ceilings worsened. The average of reliability coefficientof the subtests are 0.79 (urban) and 0.83 (rural), the stability coeffic-ient of IQ are from 0.82 to 0.89 and the coefficient of correlation ofIQ on the C-WYCSI with IQ on the WPPSIa are from 0.786 to 0.878.
