Music and Individual Development: A Cognitive Neuroscientific Perspective

Abstract: The perception of music starts early in human life. Research from cognitive neuroscience indicates that music has profound impact on individual development. Musical experience modulates the way brain processes information, affecting the development of language, spatial, and motor functions. The current review draws on recent research in cognitive neuroscience of music, focusing on the influence of music upon brain development.
