Abstract

Abstract: One of central issues in current cognitive neuroscience is how the verbal working memory system is used in sentence comprehension. In this article, we first review a debate on the specificity of the resource underlying language comprehension. We then review some critical studies investigating how verbal working memory system is used in the processing of filler-gap dependencies during online sentence comprehension and speculate on the direction of further studies
