Abstract:  Parenting and the influences of parenting on children was an important issue in developmental psychology. Mindful parenting intended to enhance effective parenting. It referred to parents’ application of mindfulness to parent-child interaction, which was characterized by giving attention to children and parenting intentionally, here and now, and non-judgmentally. Mindful parenting had positive effects on parents, children and their relationships. Two empirical research programs of mindful parenting were developed. In the future, robust interventional designs were on demand. Varied assessments could be used to evaluate the effects of mindful parenting programs. The mechanism of mindful parenting was also an important issue in future studies.
