Abstract: Psychoneuroimmunology has developed into a field of interdisciplinary research that involves a wide list of areas of which the conditioned immune modulation is the most interesting subject. This review is confined to introduce the fundamental experimental paradigm and research methods relevant to the conditioned immune effects using immunopharmacologic agents and antigens as unconditioned stimuli, and to discuss the different explanations of the results. The prediction of the directions of the conditioned responses and the learning process involved in immunomodulation are also discussed.
