Abstract: The purpose of this experiment is to observe the characteristics of theECoG orienting reaction to novel stimuli after the lesion of the dorsal orventral areas of the hippocampus. The results show that the rate of thecortical arousal responses to the novel stimuli in the hippocampally damagedrabbits is significantly lower than that in the intact.Authors analyzed anddiscussed the results of the experiment and the hippocampal role played bythe orienting reaction and habituation.
