Abstract: This paper is an analysis of the mechanism of distance estimation in aircraft landing performance. It is admitted that the estimation of distance in aircraft landing consists of a series of complex conditioned reflexes and an integration of dynamic stereotypes. The pilot must first obtain a clear perception of the surrounding conditions and establish an image of the ground. With further acquisition of the flying skill by the pilot's kinaesthesis, tactile, vestibular and hearing cues are all joined in the estimation of distance, thus forming more and more complete and clear images of the ground in landing.
