Abstract: The study used methods of classfying to explore the recovery of ca-tegorical meaning of Chinese single-characters. The subjects are under-graduates or graduates. Results show that the Yi Fu of Chinese charac-ters have a significant role in meaning recovery of single-character wor-ds. Word frequency and semantic distance also have important effect onthe time of semantic recovery. The whole study showed that semanticrecovery of Chinese characters may concern two network systems: lexicalnetwork and semantic network.
