Abstract: Within motivational theory, there have been several demonstrationswhich show that extrinsic reward for a task reduces intrinsic motivationOne explanation is that the subject attributes the performance of therewarded task to the reward. But this study provides evidence suggestingthat the changes in the intrinsic motivation are due to incentive contraseffects.
