Abstract: This paper analyses the development of psychology by means of bibl- iometric method. It deals mainly with: 1) the increase in the psycholo- gical documents since the 2nd World War; 2) the advances in the rese- arch of applied psychology in the past 20 years; 3) the main research topies from 1969 to 1988; 4) the "half life" of psychological documents; 5) the most cited journals of psychology in 1988.
