THE CHARACTERISTICS OF LONELINESS, PEER ACCEPTANCE AND THEIR RELATION TO FAMILY FUNCTIONING

Abstract: This study explored the characteristics of loneliness, peer acceptance and their relation to familyfunctioning through scale, peer nominations and interview. The results showed : Fourth throughsixth-grade children had loneliness, compared with normal children, children with learning disabilitieshad higher loneliness and lower peer acceptance, significant correlation existed between peer acceptance,loneliness and family functioning.
