Abstract: The Complex Figure Test (CFT) was used to test 82 patients with brain damage and 62 normal subjects. The fragmented or piecemeal appr- oach to copying the complex figure was observed in 23.3% brain damag- ed patients. The patients with left hemisphere lesions displayed more fra- gmented approach than those with right hemisphere lesions did, while the later made more figures disorganized in spatial arrangement of the eleme- nts. There was no difference in the errors of spatial estimation between patients with left and right hemisphere lesions. Most brain damaged patients tended to lose, distort or confuse many of the elements of the figures in the recall trial. When they attempted to recall the Rey Figure, some of them only memorized several segmental details with no overall configuration for form.
