In this paper, we review Bryant and Veroff's theory as well as recent studies of savoring, and discusses conceptual issues concerning the meaning, structure, process, and measurement of savoring. We also review research on how savoring influences happiness and on how to promote savoring ability. We highlight important areas for further study, including neurophysiological mechanisms, life-span developmental research, and cross-cultural similarities and differences. We recommend that future researchers pay particular attention to the measurement and application of savoring.
