THE FACTOR ANALYSIS OF THE ABILITY STRUCTURE OF CHINESE READING OF THIRD GRADE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

In this research, the ability structure of Chinese reading of third
grade junior high school students were analyzed by using the Activity-
Factor Analysis. The Chinese Reading Achievement Tests were administ-
ered to 286 Ss from high school in Guang Zhou. The data were factoriz-
ed with the oblique rotation technique and eight factors were achieved.
The factors were appraised by using the activity appraisement method
and the appraisal test intervantion method. Their psychological essenca
was revealed. The eight factors include the abilities of language decodi-
ng, reading organization, model identification, schreening-storage, sum-
marization, evaluation, language sense and reading transfer.
