    MAO YU-YIEN, YING YU-YEH, MA CHICH-WEI
    1961, 5 (4):  13-28.
    Abstract ( 627 )
The aim of the research was to analyse the processes of learning rational number in algebra by 5-6th grade pupils aged 13-14. Three experiments were performed. The results obtained throw light on the characteristics of the processes of grasping the conception of negative number by the pupils, on the interrelation between the abstract and concrete thinking, On the ability of verbal accounting and on the speed and accuracy of calculation. The authors were of the opinion that it is feasible the 5th grade pupils begin to learn rational number, and suggestions on teaching program in educational reform were made.

SOME PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS CONCERNING THE SOCIALISTIC COMPETITION IN INDUSTRY
    CHU TSU-HSIANG
    1961, 5 (4):  29-42.
    Abstract ( 508 )
This is a study of some problems concerning the socialistic competition in industry. The main aim is to find out the part played by the target of production in the socialistic competition. Four problems are discussed.1. The more definite and more concrete is the way of putting forward the target of production, the more marked are their effects in production.2. The effects of the comparative method of competition in the productive process depend to a certain extent upon the degree of similarity of the conditions compared. The more similar are the conditions of comparison, the more marked are the effects of the comparison.3. The effect of high productive targets is different from thai of low ones. The targets will have no influence upon production if they are either too high or too low. Advanced and practicable targets exercise bigger influence upon production.4. The knowledge of achievements in production have favourable influences upon the production. The more appropriate is the time of knowing the achievements, the more favourable will be the influence.

THE MECHANISM OF DISTANCE ESTIMATION IN AIRCRAFT LANDING
    LIN CHUNG-HSIEN
    1961, 5 (4):  43-50.
    Abstract ( 1348 )
This paper is an analysis of the mechanism of distance estimation in aircraft landing performance. It is admitted that the estimation of distance in aircraft landing consists of a series of complex conditioned reflexes and an integration of dynamic stereotypes. The pilot must first obtain a clear perception of the surrounding conditions and establish an image of the ground. With further acquisition of the flying skill by the pilot's kinaesthesis, tactile, vestibular and hearing cues are all joined in the estimation of distance, thus forming more and more complete and clear images of the ground in landing.

    WANG JING-HUO
    1961, 5 (4):  51-63.
    Abstract ( 597 )
19 neurasthenics and 16 hypertensive patients were cured with controlled treatment. The course of treatment was divided into two stages: In the first consisted of mainly re-education, and the second-synthetic treatment. 40 patients cured by synthetic treatment one year before were also investigated in order to study the influence of some psychological factors on the strenghening effeet of the therapy. It has been shown that some personality traits, such as the inclination to anger and to depress, condition remarkably the temporary and the lasting effect of therapy.
