Abstract：The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of field dependenceon programmed instruction and normal instruction in learning achievement. The results showed that: 1. In the field independence group, the achievement was not obviouslydifferent between programmed instruction and normal instruction. 2. When the learning materials were difficult in the field dependencegroup, the effect of programmed instruction was obviously better than that ofnormal instruction.
