Abstract: Whereas evdence from clinical practice and research suggests that current diagnostic criteria of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) have not met the need of therapists’ work, more clirifications are needed to be discussed about the patients’ insight and clinical significance criterion. Considering the debate about the core symptom of OCD, researchers proposed that it’s necessary to reconsiderate the relationship among the OCD, anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorder and hoarding disorder. Furture research should identify the core symptoms of OCD in the perspective of cognitive neuroscience and provide a basis for the OCD diagnostic standard.
