The Generation of Multiple Saccadic Sequences and Its Function in Psychology

Abstract: A series of saccades are carried out during viewing visual scenes in our daily life. In recent years, lots of in-depth discussions on the phenomenon of multiple saccadic sequences were made. However, controversies still exist. This paper reviews mechanism of multiple saccadic sequences from four aspects: its neurophysiological basis, its impact on updating of visual information, the role played by attention in this phenomenon, and the relationship between it and memory as well
