During its historical development, the theory gradually advanced its research methods, from outcome matrix to a transition list, which in turn pushed the theory forward. Via its advancement, the theory shifted its static SABI model into the dynamic transformation processes in which individual social recognition and motivation are embodied in the interpersonal situations. The SABI model thus was complemented and extended more deeply
