Abstract  In recent years, ethnic identity researches at home have been focusing on the connotation of ethnic identity, and it’s relation between national identity, ethnic identity and culture adaptation, and the relation of mental health and so on. The major problem of the researches is that there are more theoretical introductions and reviews than empirical studies, and the sample and methods of the study were single. Furthermore, the study lacks of comparable, process, and mechanism study, and it did not pay enough attention to the indigenous studies. In the future studies, multi-disciplinary perspective is needed, combining with using different research methods and advanced statistical methodology to find the nature of the ethnic identity of our country, thus to develop local theories of ethnic identity.
